SHIRLEY ANDRESS is a homegrown Eugene gal! In fact, she started her musical career as a student at Pleasant Hill High School. She received her degree in Music Education from the University of Oregon and teaches voice out of her own private studio. Shirley fell in love with “the musical” playing roles in community theater at Lane Community College and Very Little Theatre. She began acting professionally with Ragozzino Productions and is grateful to continue her passion with The Shedd Institute. Shirley has been a principal with The Shedd for over a decade. She is a founding member, lead singer and vocal director for The Emerald City Jazz Kings and as the artistic director for 5 of that ensemble's productions, most recently, “Give Me A Song”, a tribute to Jule Styne and “Over The Rainbow”, a tribute to the great Judy. In 2007 she created the popular annual Christmas show, a project she has continued to oversee ever since. She has been a regular guest artist at The Shedd’s Oregon Festival of American Music with Dick Hyman and Ken Peplowski and has played leading roles in Shedd Theatrical’s productions of Crazy for You, Guys and Dolls, My Fair Lady, Annie Get Your Gun, Oklahoma, Kiss Me Kate, White Christmas, The Sound Of Music, The King And I and most recently Music Man.
