OFAM 2008: Over The Rainbow
Headed up by OFAM Jazz Director Ken Peplowski, Oregon Festival of American Music 2008
is revolves around the theme "The Music of America in Hard Times, 1929-45" and proposes that the great songs of "the Greatest Generation"
were both a reflection and an inspiration to that generation's indomitable spirit. Travel with Ken and company through a broad swath of the
wonderful music of that 15-odd years from New York's Cotton Club in the late 1920s and early '30s to the swinging 1940s sounds of the USO
and Stage Door Canteen shows during World War II. Featured songwriters include Harold Arlen, Yip Harburg, Harry Warren, Fats Waller, Dorothy
Fields, Hoagy Carmichael and many more. Our 2 musicals this year will be Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg's The Wizard of Oz (1939) and
Lerner & Loewe's 1949 Brigadoon. You won't want to miss a minute of it!

The Wizard of Oz
This summer's Oregon Festival of American Music starts off a weekend early with an all-new production of the
Royal Shakespeare Co’s 1988 stage adaptation of the legendary 1939 M-G-M motion picture, The Wizard of Oz. This sparkling
stage musical follows the original film almost word for word and retains all of the great Yip Harburg/Harold Arlen songs. With
a fresh new look you won't want to miss, OFAM 2008's Wizard of Oz is a must for the entire family!

Brigadoon
For its second musical OFAM 2008 offers up Lerner & Loewe's 1947 Scottish fantasy Brigadoon. Last seen on Eugene's professional stage
39 years ago with the Lane County Auditorium Association's remarkable production at South Eugene High School, Brigadoon the play
was in danger of emulating Brigadoon the town...a condition we thought we'd correct. Don't miss it!
