Alice Blankenship and her microphilharmonic Baroque ensemble on period instruments cover the transition from Baroque to Classical through representative works by J. S. Bach (1685-1750) and Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) bookending a transitional piece by Bach's son, C.P.E Bach (1714-88). The program begins with Bach's 1707 Christ lag in Todes Banden (Christ lay in death's bonds) BWV 4 and closes with Haydn's 1786 Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze (The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross).
