Shedd Institute Executive Director Jim Ralph introduces the 25th annual Oregon Festival of American Music with a survey of what's in store and and a discussion of this thinking and research behind this year's festival theme, which focuses on and celebrates both the unusual spirit of the American people in the face of the adversity of the World War II years and the especial role that the entertainment industry played in urging, cultivating, and to a certain extent creating that spirit.
