The Shedd Institute is pleased to build upon its popular holiday productions of White Christmas by dedicating future Decembers to fully-staged productions of musical theatre classics, beginning with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s beloved setting of the founding of the Trapp Family Singers. Set in 1938 in Austria, The Sound of Music follows that story from Benedictine novice Maria Rainer’s engagement as governess to Captain Georg von Trapp’s 7 children, through their marriage and eventual escape from the Nazis. But really, who doesn’t know the story…and those magnificent songs?
