Artist statement and teaching philosophy
"When first meeting with a student, I am always curious as to why they chose the harp. I am interested in each student’s musical background, aspirations and reasons for studying the harp. I work with students to identify and set attainable goals based on what they hope to accomplish at lessons and while learning to play the harp. I understand that each student is different, with unique circumstances and demands on their time and some students may not have a lot of time to devote to practice. I take into consideration that children and adolescents learn very differently than adults and adjust accordingly. I believe strongly in teaching good technique to maintain relaxation, avoid injury, facilitate movement and produce a beautiful sound. Harp is such a unique instrument and I enjoy sharing that with students."
