Enthusiastic singers are invited to join Evynne Hollens--founder of UO's award-winning female a cappella group Divisi--in a course focusing on contemporary a cappella singing and performance. The first part of the term will involve warm-ups, tips, and techniques for a cappella singing. Students will learn various song styles including pop, jazz and R&B. The second half of the course will focus on beat-boxing (also known as vocal percussion), adding choreography to the songs, and ensemble singing techniques. Whether you’re interested in expanding your high school’s repertoire of contemporary a cappella, or preparing to enter the collegiate singing world, this class will make you a confident a cappella singer & performer! Note: Artists specializing in a capella, beatboxing and choreography will be guest instructors. At the end of the term, students will name their newly formed a capella group and give a performance.
