Karen Olsen (director) is honored to direct her first musical at The Shedd. She just retired from teaching after 41 years and has been directing musicals in the public schools her entire teaching career. She has also been rehearsal and orchestral pianist for various local productions. She is a world traveler and history nerd and has led student groups on educational trips to the East Coast for many years which has always included visits to New York and Broadway. Karen is also the artistic director for a recently formed non-profit, teen focused theatrical organization called The Non-Stop Players. Their most recent presentation was Anastasia. She has been immersed in musical theatre since childhood. At seven years of age she directed, choreographed and starred in her production of The Sound of Music in her own backyard. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to direct it again at The Shedd!
