Harry Warren (1893-1981) was unquestionably one of the great "populist" tunesmiths of his time, and managed, through his songs written mostly with lyricists Al Dubin (1891-1945) and Mack Gordon (1904-59), to touch on the dreams and hopes of a generation.
NEW 8:00 PM Start Time! We're In The Money is one of the 4 OFAM evening concerts held at The Shedd’s Jaqua Concert Hall that begin at 8:00 pm rather than our usual 7:30 pm and run 1 hour 15 min without intermission.
We’ve designed these slightly-shorter, later-starting "Summer Shorts", as we’re calling them, so our patrons can enjoy a more leisurely dinner before coming to a refreshingly entertaining evening of fine music!
Several of Warren's great World War II-era songs (including "Chatanooga Choo Choo" and "On The Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe") will be featured in OFAM 2008’s grand finale, Stage Door Canteen (August 9th). Tonight Ken and his small band are joined by Maria, Shirley, Bill and Ian for an entertaining survey that focuses mainly on his great songs from the 1930s...songs which lifted the spirits of Depression-era America and have become iconic of the entertainment industry's "we can overcome this" response to those hard times.
Look for classic Warren songs like "I Found A Million Dollar Baby", "With Plenty of Money and You", "Lullaby of Broadway", "Jeepers Creepers", "Forty-Second Street" and many more!
