Irving Berlin (born Israel Beilin, 1888-1989) was an American composer, lyricist, publisher and producer who worked with equal success in Tin Pan Alley, Broadway and Hollywood. His hit songs are legion, including such timeless classics as "White Christmas", "God Bless America", "Blue Skies", "Alexander's Ragtime Band", "Cheek To Cheek", 'Easter Parade", and "Puttin' On The Ritz". Notable stage scores include As Thousands Cheer (1933), This Is The Army (1942), Annie Get Your Gun (1946), and Call Me Madam (1962) most of which became films. Original film scores include Top Hat (1935), Follow The Fleet (1936), Carefree (1938), Holiday Inn (1942), Easter Parade (1948), and White Christmas (1954).
