Carla Lamb
Background, professional training and performance history
Carla began playing the trumpet at age 9. She has since gained a wide range of musical experience playing in orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber groups, commercial ensembles, and jazz bands. She now holds a Bachelor of Music from Belmont University and is currently finishing a Master of Music from the University of Oregon. Over the past 15 years, Carla has developed a great love and appreciation for orchestral music. A few orchestral highlights include playing with the Nashville Philharmonic, the Astoria Music Festival in Oregon and Orchestra NEXT with the Eugene Ballet.
Artist statement and teaching philosophy
“Music can be a source of great enrichment in our lives and it is a pleasure to introduce young people to it. I always enjoy learning about my students' natural musical curiosities and exploring those with them. Learning musical and instrument fundamentals is an integral part of achieving musical goals. I introduce my students to deeper musical concepts with proper instrumental technique in place. I emphasize skill in reading music, playing songs by ear, discerning rhythms, listening to new recordings, and encourage making music with others."
